To transfer into specific College of Agriculture and Life Sciences majors (as a current NC State student) see requirements and preferred qualifications listed below. This includes students who wish to change their major, as well as those who want to add a major in Agriculture and Life Sciences.

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Requirements
Students must meet the listed “Minimum Requirements” in order to submit an online CODA application to transfer (see CODA Application). These Minimum requirements must be complete at the time the application is submitted. Candidates who meet the preferred qualifications outlined below have a higher probability of being approved for transfer. Preferred Qualifications can be completed after the application is submitted up until the application deadline date. All admission is competitive and based on space availability in the specific program. Meeting the preferred qualifications does not guarantee admission to the desired major.

Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences

Minimum to apply and be considered:
- Completion of 12 or more NC State graded credit hours
- Cumulative GPA must be 2.0 or better
Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics

- Completion of 12 or more NC State graded credit hours

Preference will be given to students who meet the following:
- Completion of ARE/EC 201 (preferred) or EC 205 with a grade of C- or better
- Completion of MA 107 or 111 with a grade of C- or better, or placement into MA 121 or higher

Minimum to apply and be considered:
- Completion of 12 or more NC State graded credit hours
- Cumulative GPA must be 2.0 or better
- Completion of ANS 150 (Intro to Animal Science) with a grade of C- or better
- Completion of CH 101 with a grade of C- or better
- Completion of BIO 181 or BIO 183 with a grade of C- or better
Preference will be given to students who meet the following:
- Completion of BIO 181 or BIO 183, and CH 101 – with grades of B or better
- For the Industry Concentration: Completion of MA 114 or MA 121, and CH 220 or PY 131 with an average of B- or better
- For the Science Concentration: Completion of MA 121 (or MA 131 or MA 141), and CH 221 or PY 211 with an average of B or better
- For the Veterinary Bioscience Concentration: Cumulative NC State GPA of 3.0 or better and completion of MA 121 (or MA 131 or MA 141), and CH 221 or PY 211 with an average of B or better

- Completion of BIO 181 or Bio 183 with a C or higherStudents with lower grades in introductory CH and BIO courses that keep them from applying, but who have significantly stronger grades in higher level CH and BIO courses, are encouraged to reach out to the Director of Undergraduate Programs for Nutrition Science, Dr. Natalie Cooke (nkcooke@ncsu.edu).
- Students who have earned a D+ or lower in any course for which a C- is required will need to retake the course for an acceptable grade to be considered for admission.
Preference will be given to students who meet the following:
- Completion of BIO 181 or BIO 183 with a grade of B- or better
- Completion of CH 101 (or CH 103) with a grade of B- or better
- Completion of NTR 301 with a grade of B or better
