Directory Information Privacy Settings

Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), you have the right to restrict all or part of your directory information, which includes your preferred email, your enrollment status (full-time/part-time), major field of study, and more.

Restricting your directory information prevents the university from releasing that information to third parties outside NC State without your consent, except as permitted by FERPA. However, school officials with a legitimate educational interest such as faculty, advisors, or staff performing university responsibilities may still access student information as necessary to support your education and university operations.

If you wish to restrict this information, you can do so in your MyPack Portal:

MyPack Portal > Student Homepage > ‘Personal Information’ tile > ‘Privacy Restrictions’ menu item

  1. Select your Student Homepage
  2. Select the ‘Personal Information’ tile
