Graduation Requirements

The resources below provide additional information regarding NC State University graduation requirements.

Undergraduate Degree Requirements

Bachelor’s degree students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in order to be considered eligible to graduate from NC State. Individual departments and/or colleges may have specific major GPA requirements in order to successfully complete the degree.

Visit the Office of Undergraduate Courses, Curricula and Academic Standards website to find GPA requirements for each undergraduate major.

University Graduation Regulations

Under the Residence for Matriculation and Graduation Regulation (REG 02.30.03), to be eligible for a bachelor’s degree, a student must:

  1. Be enrolled in a degree program at NC State
  2. Have completed at least 25% of credit hours required for graduation through courses offered by NC State
  3. Have earned at least 30 of the last 45 hours of credit through NC State courses

Individual departments or colleges may have additional residence requirements.

Undergraduate Academic Minor Requirements

The requirements for each undergraduate academic minor are also available on the Office of Undergraduate Courses, Curricula and Academic Standards website. Each department has its own standards for the successful completion of an undergraduate minor.

Graduate Degree Requirements

Each graduate degree or certificate program may have its own individual requirements for successful completion. Graduate students should consult the Graduate Handbook for any questions about graduation policies, and should consult with their academic advisor or department for questions about specific program requirements.
